About Travis Martin, MD
Travis Martin, MD is an interventional pain management specialist at Pacific Pain
Physicians, with a passion for complex pain, neuroscience, and the psychology of
painful conditions. Through his training, he has developed an appreciation for
new technologies including neuromodulation and regenerative medicine. He is
dual boarded in Emergency Medicine and Pain Medicine
With an uncommon background of Emergency Medicine with a subspecialty of
pain medicine, Dr. Martin takes an unparallel approach to chronic pain through
his experience diagnosing and stabilizing acute surgical and traumatic injuries.
After completing an enlistment in the United States Air Force as a Korean Linguist
and Airborne Reconnaissance Specialist, with three Combat tours to Afghanistan,
Dr. Martin earned his Undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska. He
then went on to complete his Medical Doctorate at the University of Nebraska
college of Medicine.
Following medical school, Dr. Martin completed his Emergency Medicine
residency at the University of Arizona College of medicine, where he received top
honors and awards for establishing an ultrasound-guided pain treatment
algorithm for emergency department patients. He was also recognized as a top
scholar during his graduation for excellence in Toxicology through his continued
research and presentations on local anesthetic toxicity and snake envenomation
pain presentations. His Emergency Medicine training provided him a unique
perspective on complex wound care, pre- and post-surgical care, and traumatic
pain presentations.
Post-residency, Dr. Martin furthered his expertise with a Pain Medicine Fellowship
at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s in Boston, Massachusetts. During this
fellowship, he learned from pioneers in the field, gaining insights into complex
pain scenarios that he continues to address in his practice. Dr. Martin brings a
multi-faceted diagnostic and therapeutic approach to his patients, shaped by
extensive training, military service, and diverse regional experiences.
Dr. Martin is active in many medical and professional associations, including the
International Intervention Society, the American College of Emergency Physicians,
the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, the American
Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Pain and
Neuroscience, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
